Chapter 116
Shantelle’s POV
My phone buzzed with an unknown number. I hesitated before answering. Papa had told me that I didn’t need to pay attention to numbers I didn’t know, but I was pushed to answer this particular one.
It was like the person was conjuring me to get the call. Whatever was going to happen was going to happen. I didn’t need to keep hiding under my parents after what they revealed to me. I needed to take this bull by the horns.
I had to stay back and not even talk to my best friend because Uncle Salvador asked us not to connect with anybody.
I had done that. I hadn’t even spoken to Seven, and I had been dying to do that, but I didn’t know who to trust. I knew he was going to understand that. There was no point in explaining to him when I was still finding it hard to believe that Mama and Papa, then my uncle, could do what they told me to somebody else because of greed. It wasn’t palpable to me, but the deed had been done.
