Chapter 72
Shantelle’s POV
“When am I getting discharged?” Reginald asked suddenly, trying so hard to leave this place and get everybody’s attention back to him.
That wasn’t how he usually behaved; he must have wanted to leave here at all costs.
“You aren’t supposed to be interested in that,” Papa said. He was finally speaking. It was like he knew when to speak and when to let Mama speak, and maybe that was why their relationship didn’t have flaws.
They knew each other well; it was in sync.
“Why?” Reginald asked inquisitively. I wanted to go home too; I didn’t like being in the hospital. It kept reminding me of what happened to Reginald, and there was a lot I was trying so hard to forget.
“Because the doctor has the final say,” Mama interjected. She had been quiet for so long that I almost forgot she was here.
“That’s not fair, Mama,” Reginald called out, not even thinking about the effect of his statement.
