Chapter 28. Her Dad's Threat

They reached Nick's house and parked their cars and went inside. Aunt Pauline was busy preparing a yummy German chocolate cake with crunchy pecans and chocolate.

"It looks so delicious, aunt Pauline. Can you teach me to make it?" asked Iris, watching her effortlessly do it. Aunt Pauline smiled at her enthusiasm.

"Of course, she'll teach you. You would have to help her with it when you move in here," said Nick with a duh look. His mom stared at him incredulously.

"Are you two together, Nick, and Iris?" she asked with a happy smile hovering on her lips.

"Yes, ma but we're taking it slow," said Nick. His ma enveloped both of them in a tight hug.

"I'm so happy, dear," she said to them. They helped her with her orders. There was a Texas sheet cake to be made too. Afterwards, while the cakes were being cooked in the oven, they went upstairs to Nick's room.
