Chapter 36. At Bernie's Ranch

"How have you been?" asked Denver with a worried look on his face the moment he closed the door of Daxton's room.

"Living," said Daxton with a shrug. "The only good thing is my promotion at work."

"Congratulations, bro. So do you have any hope of Aurora?" he asked.

"I don't think so," said Daxton, looking down at his mobile. It was a touchy topic, and he felt his heartbreak every time he talked about her.

"Did you talk to her?" asked Denver. Daxton shook his head.

"I couldn't. Every time I see her with her baby, I feel like I'm an unwanted outsider," said Daxton.

"You can casually talk to her. Ask her about her husband, maybe. You can just say hello or something," suggested Denver. Daxton nodded.

"I will, maybe. I think she has shifted here forever. Her stuff came in yesterday at her rented apartment. She's not living with her brothers," said Daxton.

"Oh, have you seen her husband?" asked Denver, feeling bad for his brother.
