Chapter 5. Where Was Her Husband?

For the next few weeks, Daxton was busy with Denver's wedding preparations and work. Meg approached him nearly every alternate day, inviting him to dinner with her parents. He had to think of some excuse to turn down her offer without hurting her feelings.

Life went on and thankfully, he didn't see Aurora or her family again. He didn't know whether she shifted into the building where he had seen her last.

Two days prior to the wedding, they all left for Bernie's ranch, where everything had already been arranged for them. It was celebration time again at the Taylor household and everyone was in the best of spirits except Daxton and, of course, his youngest brother, Drake. It seemed the two of them were the black sheep of the family. While Daxton was unlucky in love, Drake loved the same girl, Alexis, as his cousin, Nate. Alexis was Nelson's wife, Annalise's sister, and lived with her. While Nate got to date her, Drake had to live with his unrequited love. So he thought of mo
