Chapter 24. Perfectly Placed Plans

Elena POV

It was almost time. All my plans had worked out perfectly. I couldn’t believe my luck.

I had known about the documents for a while. Gerard’s father had called me to his room personally to help him draft them. I didn’t even need to convince him to favor me in the clauses; it came naturally. I had always imagined Gerard wouldn’t do right by me, and I wasn’t about to take chances once the announcement concerning his father was made.

I had the documents sent out immediately. Gerard didn’t know I had an insider—someone who informed me about every single thing happening in the mansion, or at least everything involving his father. I also sent out the invitations for the meeting that same day. I knew that if I didn’t act first, Gerard would take steps that could prevent me from benefiting from the entire situation.
