Chapter 30. Tears
I didn’t want to be a laughing stock in the eyes of my family and friends. I was supposed to be seated there right now as the lunar of the Pack, receiving all the admiration and all the envy because I attained a height that none of them could have dreamed of, but instead, I’d been reduced to nothing because of a single act of Gerard. As I listened to them debate amongst themselves about if it was right to raise the topic about what had happened that night with me now or later it slowly dawned on me that I didn’t want my story to end this way. There was a large mirror in front of me by the door, and I caught a reflection of myself on it. My gown had been ruined by makeup, and my eyes looked ugly because my mascara had run. My hair was a complete mess and I didn’t even realize at what point I had taken my shoes off.
