Chapter 31
Seris’s POV
The next morning, Saelis and I made our way out to the training ground. The sun was just above the horizon, spilling pale gold light across the dust-churned field where the pack warriors sharpened their skills. Saelis nudged me with an amused grin. “You’ve got it bad, don’t you?” she teased, winking. Heat rushed to my cheeks. “You haven’t taken your eyes off him since the sparring began.”
She was right. I couldn’t look away from Ronan. His lean muscles gleamed with sweat as he battled Rhett, one of his Deltas. They called it “training,” but to me it looked all too real. The way Ronan ducked, sidestepped, feinted, and slammed powerful blows into Rhett’s ribs—it was as if neither fighter was holding back.
I turned to Saelis. “Are you sure this is just practice? It feels like they’re fighting for real.”
She shrugged, pulling off her shirt and tossing it aside to reveal a snug sports bra and shorts. “It’s training,” she said, rolling her eyes.
