Seris’s POV
I laughed as Ronan awkwardly tried to braid Nessa’s hair. Why he’d volunteered for this task, I didn’t know—perhaps he wanted to bond with her as he had with me. The sight of that hulking man perched on the bed, hunched over the tangled strands, brows furrowed in utter confusion, was both beautiful and hilarious. I knew I’d remember it forever.
“Can’t we just brush it?” he whined, eyeing the messy knots he’d created. “Brushing seems easier.”
“You only say that because you can’t braid,” Nessa teased, sticking out her tongue. Ronan shot me a pleading look, but I just smiled. He sighed, then moved to her side at her signal. She sat him on the stool before the mirror, dragged another stool behind him, climbed up, and proclaimed, “Now I’ll make you really pretty.”
