Chapter 10
I arrived at the orphanage and parked at the gate. I didn’t even bother to look to see if it was allowed. Just then, as I got out of the car, I saw the director coming out.
All the doors were closed, and the windows were closed. Everything was turned off. She didn’t see me when I approached her and grabbed her arm to get her attention.
“Excuse me,” I noticed I had scared her, and that was far from my intention. “I know I’m very late. You’ve closed and are leaving, but it’s my daughter in there. I need to know what happened to Sofia...please.”
“Mr. Santos,” she said, sighing. “This is not how it’s done, but given the circumstances...” She stared at me. She must have read the concern in my eyes. “Your daughter is not behaving acceptably.”
“What?” I was not expecting this news.
“Mr. Santos, your daughter is beating her classmates. She never obeys, doesn’t listen, and causes lots of problems,” she told me, rather disappointed.
