Chapter 15
When dawn breaks, I go to my queen’s room and wake her up.
“Upstairs, princess” I draw the curtains and pull up the blind “It’s the first day of school. You start at a new school today. You have your uniform in the locker and I’m waiting for you downstairs for breakfast.”
Being allowed into that private school wasn’t easy, but I just wanted what was best for her. I want her to have choices and not be forced to do something she doesn’t like. My baby is going to have a good life, not like I had at her age.
I’m not the best cook in the world; God knows that, but my breakfasts, since the fridge is stocked daily, are five-star. As I drink my second coffee, I call my boss to tell her that before I go to work, I’m taking my daughter to school.
“Perfect.” Just one word, and she locks the call. Dry, direct, distant. I guess that’s part of her charm, but it makes you want to teach her some manners, well, it makes you want to.
