Chapter 22
Ash stumbled a few times, struggling to find balance on his feet. It seemed like a very difficult task, but he kept going regardless. The frightened soldiers looked between one another, wondering if it would be a good choice to still hold Myan. The soldier that had hit her was the most frightened one, and he was the first to let go of her, taking a few steps backward.
Realizing that she was free, she jerked forward and ran to his side. She didn’t care for his size, she wrapped her arms around as much flesh as she could conveniently access and sobbed into his scar-filled body.
Ash let one arm hug her tight, receiving her embrace as she wailed without pause. She had never been happier to see anyone or touch anyone like this in her entire life and the tears would not seize. He looked so exhausted she felt he could pass out at any time.
