"Girl, you are overreacting." Sheila opposed Scarlett's request for an extensive background investigation on Jerry Thompson. He was truly the epitome of a 'nice guy.' She had to rely on more than just her perceptions. She was curious about what it was in him that brought her joy; she could not allow herself to be exposed. Every stone needed to be flipped. 

"I am not being overly suspicious, Sheila; even Hector mentioned it is strange that he is nice to all the staff at the hospital; the previous CEO was an asshole." 

"What exactly makes me a part of this?" After sitting silently for thirty minutes since he arrived, Hector finally asked. 

"Since he is your boss, I would like to think that he has held that position for some time." 

"Well, it's been over a year." He responded. "Am I allowed to leave now?" He attempted to rise, but Sheila held him, causing him to remain seated. 

"What was his reason for attending the engagement party?" Hec
