Chapter 35. Were You Never Going to Tell Me?

Alexa looked up to find Wayne standing before them. She recalled Valerie’s threat and forgot about everything else. She had to get away from Wayne before Valerie saw them together. She could not risk the life of her children for anyone no matter how good they had been to her.

“Wayne, why are you here?” she asked, walking away from him.

“Alexa, what’s the problem?” Wayne asked. “And who is this man with you?”

“Dr. Arnold,” she said hastily. “Doc, I’ll see you some other time!” Then she quickly climbed into Wayne’s car and shut the door.

Wayne followed at a slower pace wondering what the problem was. Why was Alexa a ting so strange?
