Chapter 14. Take Care of Business

Prince Herod's POV

"We need to leave, Xanne. There is an emergency at your place."

After staring at me in astonishment for a brief moment, she jumped to her feet. "At my home? Is something going on with Cissy? Did Harad say something through the mind link?”

I shake my head in denial.

“No, I assure you, your girlfriend is perfectly fine. They came across an injured she-wolf who was a victim of violence. My brother was able to convince Cissy to take her in for a few weeks,” I explained while placing the items back into the picnic basket. Xanne frowned and continued to stare at me thoughtfully.

“Come on, let's go back and check out what happened. If all went well, they must have already reached the apartment." We made our way to my car, with her mood considerably less cheerful than before. In the car, I see her staring anxiously outside. Within a few minutes, we arrived at the restaurant and headed towards her stay.
