Russo's men? Martina's eyes widened. How was that possible? What dealings did she have with Dominic Russo that he would send his men to attack her? Or perhaps he traced that article back to her but she had been so careful to implicate Ares and not her.
This was a mess.
Ares' grip on Martina's arm tightened, his eyes never leaving hers. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and concerned.
Martina nodded, still trying to process the events that had just unfolded. She was shaken, but unharmed. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ares' eyes narrowed, his gaze flicking to the man on the floor. "We need to get out of here, now," he said, his voice firm and commanding.
Martina's eyes flashed with defiance as she shoved Ares' hand off her arm. "I'm not going anywhere," she said, her voice firm. "I'll call the police and let them sort this out."
