Book 2: Chapter 50
As Sophie waited for the coffee, she felt the weight of her decision pressing down on her. She tried to calm her racing thoughts, reminding herself that she had no other option. She couldn't risk Dominic's wrath, not if she wanted to survive.
Minutes later, the officer returned with a steaming cup of coffee. He handed it to her through the bars, giving her a curious look. Sophie took the cup, her hands trembling slightly. She sipped the hot liquid, trying to appear nonchalant as the officer watched her.
"Anything else you need?" he asked, his tone casual.
Sophie shook her head, forcing a small smile. "No, thank you."
As the officer walked away, Sophie held on to the coffee wondering what was to come next now that she had asked for the coffee.
The next morning, Sophie was awoken by the sound of her cell door clanging open. A different guard stood there, his expression stern.
