Martina blinked up at him, her brow furrowing in confusion and fear. “Leave? Where would we go? This is my home, Antonio. Where can we possibly hide that Dominic won’t find us?”
Antonio forced a reassuring smile, one that he hoped conveyed confidence and calm. He needed her to trust him, to believe that he had everything under control, even if he was barely holding it together himself. “I know a place,” he said, his voice steady. “A safe house, far from here. Somewhere Dominic won’t think to look, somewhere we can lay low until I can sort this out.”
