Book 1: Chapter 31

The room fell into stunned silence as Lombardi’s action echoed off the richly adorned walls. Then the scream of Mirabel followed, her hand flying to cover her mouth in shock.

The shot was quick, and the decision was final. Enrique slumped in his chair, lifeless, his eyes still reflecting the fear of his last moment.

Mirabel screamed, a raw, piercing sound, she stood up nearly falling on the floor, her expression one of shock and fear.

Enzo remained seated, his face unreadable as he watched the scene unfold. He didn’t seem surprised by Lombardi’s drastic measure; rather, there was a calculating look in his eyes, as if he were pondering the consequences of this new development.

Aleida and Miguel remained seated as well, unfazed by their father's actions. They had watched him over the years kill people, so this was nothing new to them.

"Well that settles that," Aleida finally broke the silence. Leaning into her seat and crossing her legs.

"And you!"
