Chapter 62. Rogue
After she had been offered a chair, she takes a sit, comporting herself in the best possible way. But somehow, the man would not just take his eyes off her.
“Welcome.” He greets for the umpteenth time.
“Thank you,” She offers him her file which he collects from her then relaxed into his sit as he flips the pages, perusing her papers.
“Young lady, what is your name?” His worn out voice echoes.
“Lara Croft, sir.”
The man’s brows furrow. “And you worked for five years in the almighty Croft Incorporation, huh?”
“Indeed, Sir.”
“Hmmm. You do have some fancy education. Are you by anyway related to the Crofts?”
“Not at all. It is merely a coincidence. But I enjoyed working for them.”
The man shifts his attention back to her and licks his lower lip, his dark eyes searching hers. “If you liked the job so much, why are you here then?”
Lara hesitates a bit, pondering what lie to spew. “Well, sir, I quit due to personal reasons.”
