Chapter 11
Dr. Winchester stood motionless for a few minutes before speaking:
“So what are the doings of this night just as mysterious as those of last night?”
I answered "quite!"
He said nothing in reply, but turning to Miss Trelawney said:
"We'd better take Nurse Kennedy to another room. I suppose there's no reason why?"
"Nothing! Please, Mrs. Grant, see that Nurse Kennedy's room is ready; and have two men come and carry her."
Mrs. Grant came out at once; After a few minutes he came back saying:
"The room is all set and the men are here."
At her direction, two walkers entered the room, lifted Nurse Kennedy's immobile body under the doctor's direction, and carried her out of the room. Miss Trelawney stayed with me in the sick-room, and Mrs. Grant went with the doctor to the nurse's room.
When we were alone, Miss Trelawney came up to me, took my hands in hers, and said:
