Chapter 57. A Deadly Unit

I forced the odd flutter deep in my gut aside, shoving that strange, unsettling feeling out of my mind. Now was not the time for self-analysis or questioning every twitch in my body. There were more pressing matters at hand. Without bothering to exchange another word or glance, I eased myself down into the waiting chair. The leather creaked beneath me, its aged surface unfamiliar and cold against the back of my legs.

He didn’t even shift in his own seat. Instead, he sat motionless, as though carved from marble, his body betraying no sign of discomfort or intention to move. Our eyes met for an instant, and I caught sight of the outline pressing insistently against his jeans—his cock, rock-hard and prominent, straining for release.
