Chapter 71. Emotionally Exhausted

Pain shot through Selena’s elbows as she hit the cold, hard floor.

“I don’t ever want to see you again!” the man shouted at her. She blinked, her vision momentarily blinded by tears.

She watched him slam his office door shut, the sound echoing through the waiting area. When she finally got off the floor, her eyes landed on the secretary. The guy had his hand over his mouth, his eyes wide in shock.

“Oh my God,” he finally spoke after a few seconds. “Are you—” He walked out from behind the desk and closed the distance between them. “Are you okay?”

Selena wiped her face with the back of her hand, trying so hard to be strong. She felt like bawling her eyes out and screaming in pain, yet she flashed him a small, sad smile and nodded. Then, she made her way past him before he could ask any more questions. She wasn’t in the mood to talk r
