“You have some nerve coming here!” I barked, approaching Evans.

My wolf was wild. I had no voice of reason right now. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and slammed him against a tree.

“Don’t be reckless!” Evan shouted. “I’m here to negotiate.”

“Have you lost it?”

“The plan to wake a midnight king has been going on since before you were born! It’s going to happen whether you like it or not.”

“What do you get out of this, Evans? Make it makes sense to me. I don’t see you as the man who gets all the power and glory.”

The corners of his mouth raised. “You underestimate me.”

“Ivan Henderson is the real ring leader. Where do you fit in this puppet?”

I slammed him against the tree again. At this point, I was just using him as a punching bag.

“Ivan is a monster, I won’t deny it. I’d rather be beside the monster than in his path. I won’t be begging for scraps when everything is said and done.”
