Chapter 226
Stormy POV
“Are you ready?” Montez asked.
“I guess so. What’s she like?”
Montez raised his shoulders. “She’s changed. We’ve had to do some drastic things to keep her safe. We’ve had to be very careful.”
I didn’t know her, so I didn’t know what to expect. All I had was a picture to go off of. I knew she had a blot in her eye identical to mine.
“Give her a chance,” Montez added.
“No expectations,” I said, shrugging.
I half thought we were going to get caught on our way to find my mother. However, the route Montez took me on was quiet and dark. There were numerous closed doors. I couldn’t even hear anyone shuffling on the other side.
This section felt abandoned. We came to a grey stainless steel door.
“She’s inside,” Montez said.
I envisioned my mother in a hospital bed, wearing a long, large patient’s gown. I imagined she spent her days staring out the window.
