Kelly POV
Evelyn’s smirk is absolutely maddening, her confidence annoyingly, unbearably chilling in a way that crawls under my skin. She sits there with a perfect, practiced poise, legs crossed so casually, completely and entirely unbothered by my presence, unbothered by my anger, unbothered by the storm she caused.
I am shaking. I can feel it in my hands, in my shoulders, in every part of me. The audacity this woman has, the sheer nerve of her, makes my blood run hot and cold at the same time.
"You lied to my son," I say, my tone sharp, cutting through the air between us like a blade. "You told Aiden that I wasn’t his mother? For what reason? Why would you do that?"
Evelyn raises an eyebrow slowly, deliberately, feigning innocence with a look that is too polished, too rehearsed. "Did I lie?"
