Kelly POV
I barely remember storming out of Anderson’s house, barely remember how my feet carried me out of there at all.
One moment, I was standing in that suffocating room, the air too thick to breathe, watching Evelyn’s annoying expression, that smug look she wore like a crown, and Anderson’s hollow apologies that meant nothing and changed nothing, and the next, I was outside, the cold air hitting my face, my hands shaking so badly I could barely function as I yanked open my car door and slid inside, slamming it shut behind me like it could lock the whole world out.
