Chapter 10
Mia grinned at Joe, ignoring the taunts of the other lady. Her mother rolled her eyes at the pair and moved to supervise the cooking. It was past lunch, and the inn was still filled with men who were yet to eat. The news of Mia finally having a man she was in love with had spread through the town, and the inn had more patrons than they could feed at a stretch as more men kept coming in as the others left in the guise of eating just to know who caught the fancy of the village belle with an icy heart.
“I haven’t seen the man of the hour,” Joe giggled. “Where is your man? I doubt he would be pleased to know he is now the model of the town.”
Mia laughed. “He told me he would be going out early this morning.”
Joe nodded. “No wonder I haven’t seen him today. I didn’t know he knew anywhere in the country.”
“He went somewhere the day Thomas made a fool of himself.”
