Chapter 18
William’s POV
I decided to get up and call the guys. As I climbed the stairs, a message came to my phone. My mother had been calling me; I had over six messages from her, and none had a response. I turned off my phone, and Francis came out of the room.
“What a bastard; you just ruined everything,” he said playfully.
“You ruined it; Scarlett’s mother is home.”
Olive’s eyes widened, and she coughed repeatedly. A laugh escaped my lips. I signaled for them to come down to eat and shook my head.
At that moment, I realized I liked being here. Vegas is a constant reminder of what I’ve done wrong, whereas being away from home makes me feel better. Safer. We went downstairs and sat down to eat. Everything went peacefully; no one argued or made unwanted comments. When the meal was over, I thanked Scarlett’s mom for what she had done, kissed her cheek in gratitude, and excused myself.
Deep down, I was grateful that I didn’t ask if I would be going out
