Chapter 20. The Family Day
Papa generously lent us his car for the day, knowing they wouldn't need it since they had arranged transportation for the conference meeting. Silas and I were on our way to pick up Gabriel before Morgan headed out for her event.
"I brought my camera," Silas said with a grin.
I couldn't help but chuckle and shake my head playfully. "Of course you did," I replied, knowing his love for photography.
As we waited outside the house, memories of my childhood flooded my mind. This was the place I had grown up in, spending eighteen years of my life here. While there were only a handful of happy memories, I couldn't deny the nostalgia that washed over me.
Silas noticed my distant gaze and asked, "Do you want to wait inside?"
I smiled weakly and declined his offer. "That won't be necessary. They're coming," I said, just as Morgan and Gabriel emerged from the house with their bags and backpacks.
