Chapter 56. The End of the Farce
Alfred arrived just as the sun was setting. Onis, ordered by Pharaoh, warned that Farida wished to be examined by him again. He was very concerned and immediately went up to Farida's chambers. Arriving there she stood looking out of the window.
"I saw when you arrived. I am glad you came to see me at once."
"Onis tells me you have not been well, Your Majesty. Have you fed?"
Eliza left the window with a serious and worried countenance and lay down again. Alfred came over and helped her cover herself, sitting down in the chair beside the bed just after she had straightened up.
"What are you feeling?" He asked with a professional air.
She stared at him longingly before answering.
"A lot of distress..."
"You may be depressed. You have been suffering from various emotions. There is no remedy for that. You must fight and not accept that this feeling takes over you."
