Chapter 42
Carolina remained vigilant, sitting up with her usually neatly tied hair now cascading over her shoulders, looking alluring. However, her eyes were watchful as she observed the man beside her.
Red’s body twitched slightly, curling up.
Carolina raised her hand to touch him. "Are you okay?"
She heard him murmur something as if he couldn’t listen to her. "Please, don’t scare me," she whispered.
Suddenly, he turned over, sitting up and clutching his stomach.
Carolina reached for the bedside lamp, only to discover his face had turned pale. He looked to be in pain, and his forehead beaded with sweat.
"Is it your stomach?" She asked cautiously.
He glanced up, his sharp eyes under the distress of his body seemed less menacing.
"Wait a moment, I’ll get Mirian." Carolina got out of bed, slipped on her shoes, and hurried downstairs.
