Dropping the phone, Carolina felt utterly disoriented. She had once begged Red for mercy, but in vain. She had to find another opportunity to try again.
Red had arranged a multitude of tasks for her. She worked tirelessly throughout the day, not feeling physically tired, as these tasks were a far cry from her brutal labor. It was the mental torment that weighed heavily on her.
In the evening, Carolina carried a tray of coffee upstairs and gently knocked on Red’s door. Upon his permission, she entered.
"Here… is the coffee you requested," she said, placing the coffee on the tea table.
