I glared at my wife, not having expected her to retaliate. “Expect nothing from me.” Although I knew she wasn’t wrong, I would never admit that to her.
“I don’t. Please don’t malign my character.” She walked away with drooping shoulders while I watched her go. All the fight left my body at her defeated stance. It didn’t look like she had slept with anyone. She looked tired. Then why did she roam around shopping malls without buying a thing? She amazed me every time with her gentleness. Despite my reckless behavior, Sydney never misbehaved with me. She might be eight years younger, but she showed more maturity than I did.
I wished she weren’t Philippe Bardot’s daughter!
My phone buzzed with a call from Tony. I walked out of the suite and accepted it immediately.
