A year later...
Danielle kissed Angel’s forehead and smiled at her little girl. “Enjoy yourself, sweetie! I’ll pick you up after work.”
Angel clung to her, not willing to let go, although she knew she had to. It was an everyday affair since the time they had to move out of the Longmont house. Three months ago, Dean Longmont suffered a brain stroke and his wife had to appoint a full-time nurse to take care of him. With Damien and his family moving in to take care of them, Danielle had to move out. She felt she was taking advantage of their kindness.
Her employer recommended a studio apartment that was available in his building for rent. Danielle moved in and admitted Angel to the day-care center on the ground floor. It was convenient for her and she could work without having to worry about Angel. It was true she couldn’t save much with the increase in expenses, but there was no other way. She would think about it when Angel was old enough to go to school.
