Chapter 21. Perseverance

“I’ll try one more time.” Zee was determined.

Azeeva twisted her body, one hand gathering water currents. As time passed, Azeeva was enveloped in a thick wind. Small fish joined the party around Azeeva. Within seconds, other sea creatures joined in, both small and large. Azeeva was shaken. The pressure she was under was almost unstoppable. It felt like her body would split open.

“Aaaarghhh!” Azeeva raised two hands high as if holding the sea. “Deíxe mou tis psychés pou émeinan píso!”

The vortex was thrown down by Azeeva, fully penetrating her soul. Everything in the sea came into her vision in a flash. The screams of the captain and crew of the sinking ship. The fights of sea monsters. The anguished cries of mermaids for becoming froth. The seabed suddenly emitted a choking puff of black smoke. Everything was recorded randomly in Azeeva’s vision.

“Poseidon, I ask for my father!” Zee shouted.
