Chapter 25. Next Level
Marco sat up. The creaking of the bed made him move more carefully.
“This conversation is not very important, Letta. We have a new task now, guarding Paramour,” Marco explained, giving as calm an understanding as possible.
Letta’s ego responded in kind.
“Ridiculous!” Letta paced back and forth in front of Marco while the man’s gaze lingered on the bowl of porridge.
“Our job is to carry out random missions that are paid for, Marco. I thought accompanying Madam Jenn to the throne was a formality since she had no one. So there’s something behind it?”
Letta stomped right in front of Marco, looking at him with disappointment. “Why don’t you ask us first if we agree or otherwise? Are we ghosts to you?”
“Hmm… you don’t agree, do you?” said Marco. He finally stopped staring at the chicken porridge and did what he was supposed to: picked it up, scooped it up until it melted, and stuffed it into his mouth wide open.
