“He’s dead,” said Ravin.
The acute phase struck with lightning speed. Letta collapsed over the body of a child, the oldest of the other children. Fifteen years old. Soon, he would grow up and be ready for serious training. But illness dashed the hopes of Letta and the other REDCA members.
“Oh, no…”
Justin’s voice raised Letta’s head. She turned around and hugged Justin. Justin’s hands pushed Letta’s back to make her more comfortable. Justin’s t-shirt was wet with tears of pain. Physical pain would never have been this hard to shed tears. Disappointment, despair, and anxiety wrestled, creating deep wounds.
After Letta’s sobs subsided, Justin moved to release Letta’s embrace. She was the girl who used to be as strong as a thunderbolt and now looked fragile. She couldn’t stand properly, so Justin had to hold her shoulders.
“It’s not over yet, Letta. It’s going to be okay,” Justin said.
