Chapter 8. The Reason

A creature with a brain is often suspicious. Even animals without sense can mistake all humans for hunters. Justin revealed a pea-sized pill by touching the tip of his tongue to the roof of his mouth. Azeeva gasped. At first, Zee believed Justin was a twisted, perverted werewolf. However, after studying the furrow between Justin’s brows, Zee realized Justin was a desperate creature.

Zee pleaded with Justin to give up and surrender. Zee desired recognition from Justin just once.

“Justin!” Marco’s voice was urgent.

“No,” Zee replied suddenly. Her palms pressed against Justin’s forehead, like a mother checking her son’s temperature during a fever.”

Azeeva smiled faintly and replied in a soft but firm tone, “Whatever troubles you, I can solve. You need to trust me.”

Justin was swept away. Remind him of His father’s words from earlier. “Why should I believe?” Justin asked, skeptical.
