Mia's POV

I couldn’t help but feel uneasy pacing around the small cabin, the floorboards creaking beneath me with every turn. Leah had been gone for a while now, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had gone wrong.

What if she’d been caught by the Black Bird Wolves? What if they’d found out exactly where we were hiding?

Blake, sitting on the couch with a book he clearly wasn’t reading anymore, finally looked up at me. “What’s with all the pacing? You’re making me dizzy.”

I stopped and faced him. “I’m just worried about Leah. She’s been gone for a while now, and I’m afraid something might have happened to her.”

Blake rolled his eyes. “Leah can handle herself. She’ll be fine.”
