Iris’s POV

“Iris, what happened in the garden between you and that man?” Andrew asked suddenly, taking me by surprise.

“What do you mean?” I asked, not sure what he meant nor how to go about answering his question.

“You looked so flushed when you came in,” he said, looking at me, searchingly. “Did he act inappropriately towards you?”

“Not exactly!” I said, choosing my words.

“What do you mean, not exactly?” he asked and I could hear the irritation on his voice, the impatience.

“He tried to kiss me but I stopped him!” I blurted.

“The snake!” Andrew said, really furious. He stood with his band balled into a fist. “And you were so polite towards him, acting like nothing untoward happened, when you could have said something so we could teach him the lesson of his miserable life!”

“Andrew, sit down,” I said pulling his hand down so he could sit down again. “He isn’t worth your anger!”
