“Tell me,” Alex sputtered, which sounded frantic for information.
I was desperate to tell him my reaction and apologize for my blunder, too. I couldn’t raise my face to look at him, feeling embarrassed and guilty at the same time.
Instead, tears continued to fall as I shook my head and closed my eyes with my hands covering my face.
“I’m sorry,” I muttered – the only thing I knew I could say to him that broke my heart so bad. I gulped before I turned my head, avoiding his widened eyes and intense gaze.
I shoved his hands away from my collar and took a step back, leaning against the rails. “Alright,” I inhaled and let out a frustrated groan.
He slid his hands into his pockets and fixed his gaze on me.
“I left because I felt that loving you at that time wasn’t the right time for us.”
His brows furrowed as if he was trying to comprehend what I was saying.
