Chapter 29

Alex

The sun’s rays stung my face, making me wince. I raised my head and looked around the room for Chen. Only to discover he had already left. Where did he go?

My brows furrowed as I rose to sit at the foot of the bed, naked, with my elbows on my lap to support my bending forward weight.

I stroked the back of my head and combed my hair with my fingers. I reached out and grabbed my boxers, as well as the other items strewn on the carpeted floor.

I took a step towards the door, standing to put on each of them. I leaned forward against the rails, inhaling the early morning sea breeze.

My eyes scoured the landscape down the height of my nose for him as the sun slowly rose on the horizon. I didn’t see him, though.

When I returned inside, I noticed the envelope on the table. It was placed beneath the lampshade. I took it from the shelf and opened it, exposing Chen’s handwritten message inside. I had no idea he could write neatly and in cursive.
