Chapter 62
Maya’s POV
I wanted to tell Elias about it, but I kept recalling how he’d reacted when I bumped into Adrian last night. It felt far too risky. If I brought this up, he’d get worked up all over again, and I didn’t need extra distractions right now.
“Anyway,” he said, straightening up from the files spread across his desk, “the meeting isn’t for another two weeks. We still have time to plan the presentation.” He bent down, rummaging through one of the lower drawers.
“For now, though, I want to talk to you about a project I’ve been working on.”
“Sure,” I replied, forcing a casual tone. Inside, I was relieved I didn’t have to mention Adrian—or whatever had happened last night. This could stay between them and me. If anything serious happened, I could just block it immediately.
