Maya’s POV
Elias took my hand in his, his grip warm but firm. “I’m not going to go into the details,” he said quietly, “but I’ve made damn sure he’ll never walk again.” For a moment, his normally clear, icy-green eyes flashed with shadow, and the calm authority in his voice carried its own warning. I didn’t want to hear more.
I drew in a breath. “How did you know to come back?” I asked, staring at him. It couldn’t have been mere coincidence that he showed up just in time to help me.
He released one hand to run a thumb over my knuckles, gathering his thoughts. “Thomas keeps track of every single employee in the company. When he went to look up Christopher, he noticed that name didn’t ring any bells. He pressed a subordinate in our Los Angeles office, and learned that Christopher was new—but the way his file fit all the criteria we were looking for
