Damien’s POV
I zoned out of the conversation immediately. I heard Joan was an accomplice.
That must have been the guy we couldn’t trace with her from the beginning.
The dots started connecting: the videos she played at my father’s party, she knew through him that Anita was in New York, they both planned, he was there, the man that taunted my lover’s life was there in that party, probably drinking and eating!
I remembered how frantic Anita was at the party, the way her phone kept blowing up. She seemed nervous, now that I looked at it.
She knew he was there—the look on her face when she suddenly reappeared after Joan had taken her course—she looked scared to death.
She fought all alone, but why?
Why didn’t she tell me all that?
One thing I couldn’t quite place my hands on was who this guy was to her.
He definitely knew what he was doing, choosing the greatest enemy of Anita as an accomplice to ruin Anita, but to what extent
