It was like he was moving underwater. Everything happened too slowly, at the same time, he couldn’t stop it. Garrey’s eyes widened. Then the blood blossomed on his chest and stained the crisp white shirt he was wearing underneath his opened coat.
Richard pulled the trigger again and this time Garrey fell heavily on the ground before the second bullet wound got the chance to blossom.
“Don’t.”
“Mike. Don’t do this.”
“DON’T.”
Mike’s wolf was shouting inside him, at him and calling him by his human name. Mike’s hand on the trigger shook.
“I’ll do it. I swear I’ll do it.” Mike said out loud.
“It’s not worth it. You know that. Shoot him and it’s over. For both of you. “
The war inside him was loud like never before.
