Chapter 48. The Marriage Proposal
They were in the lawn and the beauty was inexplicable. Rachel wandered along the bushes and traced my fingers down the lane, feeling the thorns in the bushes, and the soft surface of the leaves. Luther was trailing behind. His hand behind his back, he’s holding the ring he bought at the town before coming down at Rachel’s university.
“Rachel.”
She doesn’t want to even turn around. It felt like a waste of time coming down here when her heart already belonged to someone else. Rachel was already waiting for Ezekiel to break off the façade of their love, the obstacles they had to adhere to, and the judgments they had to overcome.
“What is it? Why are we strolling on the university’s lawn when everyone is asleep?”
She stopped in the middle of the empty lawn and waited for Luther to drop it all.
