Chapter 16. Night of the Hunt (1)
Alex lines up her newly blood-drained chicken on her cutting board when there is a knock at her door. She sighs; this was the one time she disliked being interrupted. The woman makes sure to wipe her entire face with a damp cloth, though she decides to keep her bloodied apron on before unlocking her door. “Heeey!” Georgie calls, and she shuts the door. Just his face was enough to spoil her dinner. “Aw come on!” he continued. “Is that any way to treat someone who just got out of prison? I’ve had some hard times, Alexandra. I am not the same man anymore,” he finishes with a dramatic tone.
Alex takes a very, very long breath. She opens the door and asks, “Prison? What happened?”
“Oh, don’t pretend you don’t know,” and he gives a taunting smile as he leans in and whispers, “I know it was you who tripped me.”
