Chapter 22. A New Friend
Alex continues to write her entries in her book, recalling the events from the day’s dinner. The men Alex befriended rarely cried even when she had them alone with her, and this one had cried in front of two others. Not to mention his ludicrous plans to hunt down the werewolf, and that he ‘won’t fail.’
The werewolf was another curious entry; having killed a man of obscurity, then one as prominent as the bishop, and finally killing a boy alongside several other Hunters. A second one would make it harder to determine which ones were responsible for which killings. Her satisfaction would come in the form of Mrs. Somerset, the old woman knocking on her door a little after midnight. “Oh darling, terribly sorry,” Mrs. Somerset starts, “but I noticed those Hunters came on by,” and she enters at Alex’s behest.
“Ah yes, they came to return something,” the younger woman explains as she starts preparing tea. “We also had a bit of a late repast for one of their own.”
“I see,”
